Erika Bernhard is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) with a rich background in nutrition and diabetes management. Erika brings over two decades of experience to her practice, as her expertise encompasses a wide range of nutritional needs, allowing her to tailor recommendations that align with individual health goals. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Foods and Nutrition from California State Polytechnic University, where her educational foundation equipped her with the knowledge and expertise to address nutritional needs and promote well-balanced lifestyles. Following her academic achievements, Erika completed a Dietetic Internship at the City of Hope National Medical Center. This hands-on experience further refined her skills and gave her a holistic understanding of nutrition in a healthcare setting.
In addition to her academic background, Erika has received specialized training in Motivational Interviewing(MI), emphasizing a patient-centered approach in her interactions with each individual. This training reflects her commitment to staying abreast of the latest developments in diabetes care and Medical Nutrition Therapy(MNT). Years of working in private practice with patients in chronic disease states lead Erika to spend a great deal of time focusing on prevention, including implementing health policies in schools, teaching youth about nutrition and working with patients identified with pre-diabetes to fine-tune their diet and lifestyle to prevent advancement of their condition. With a focus on patient-centered care and incorporating MI techniques, Erika ensures that her clients receive personalized guidance that goes beyond traditional nutritional advice.
